Contributes to complementary medicine beyond basic insurance. Basic insurance only covers acupuncture, anthroposophic medicine, homeopathy, phytotherapy and TCM.
Contributions for emergencies abroad. Basic insurance pays at most twice the Swiss costs. Outside Europe (USA, Canada, Japan), additional cover is recommended.
Contributes to Swissmedic-authorised medicines outside the specialty list as well as complementary medicine. Basic insurance only pays for listed preparations.
Covers psychotherapy by recognised non-medical therapists. Basic insurance only reimburses medically ordered sessions within the legally staggered scope.
Contributes to health-promoting measures such as check-ups, protective and travel vaccinations, fitness subscriptions and nutritional counselling.
Covers dental treatments by dentists. Basic insurance only pays when the treatment is linked to a serious illness.
Covers corrections of tooth position, such as braces. Basic insurance does not cover these costs.
Contributes to glasses and contact lenses. Basic insurance only pays for children. For adults only after eye surgery or for certain illnesses.
Contributes to search, rescue and transport costs. Basic insurance only pays 50% in Switzerland (max. CHF 500/year). That is often only a fraction of the real costs.
